What Car Insurance Coverage Do I Need?
Decide how much liability coverage is enough for similar type of drivers.
Driving has become an integral part of everyone’s life. If you are in America, you are bound to drive! It could be to anywhere like work, to buy groceries or even take road trips. Unfortunately, the road is not a safe place to be. Every day, hundreds (if not thousands) of fatal road accidents happen. These accidents result in serious losses and injuries. According to a study in 2015, more than 38000+ fatal accidents were recorded in the United States of America. And, more than 4.4 million people were seriously injured. This makes the American roadways a serious problem.
As a part of this study, nearly 770,000+ road accidents were analyzed from the past 20 years. The data were carefully collected from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System.
According to recent data, Arlington County, Virginia is one of the country’s safest places. Experts believe that the place enjoys safe roads because it is very rich. There are few other safe destinations to drive to.
This includes places:
On the other hand, La Paz County, Arizona is a very dangerous country. It is home to many fatal car incidents. These countries are followed by Leon County (Texas), Tunica County (Mississippi), and Lowndes County (Alabama). It is quite interesting to note that the list between 2014 and 2015 are drastically different. A few years ago, the so-called-dangerous cities were extremely safe.
Road fatalities can be categorized into many groups. A common type of fatality would be “Traffic Incidents”. In small countries, the number of traffic fatalities is considerably high. For example, Kiowa, Colorado tops the list of deadliest countries. Few other countries with deadly traffic conditions would be Nebraska and Texas. These counties occupied 8 out of the top 20 spots. Most people attribute these accidents to the sparse and “free” nature of the counties.
The Northeast region is relatively safe! That is because the country’s safest states are found in this region. Massachusetts boasts of very low traffic fatalities. In the past 2 decades, the number of traffic fatalities in the region has to be considerably low. New York and Columbia are also safe. A major reason behind this would good transportation facilities. Likewise, the default speed limit in these states is carefully controlled. The top speed in these states is either 55 (urban) or 65 (rural) miles per hour. On the other hand, the maximum speed in the southern and western states are 70 or 75 miles per hour. All the dangerous states in America are sparsely populated and quite rural. Montana, Mississippi, and Wyoming are known for their fatal accidents. Wyoming has plenty of stretches with thin, two-lane roads. These roads will definitely tempt you to drive fast (and face disastrous consequences).
Here is a simple overview of how traffic fatalities varied across the years in various states:
This analysis makes Wyoming a dangerous state for drivers. Throughout the years, Wyoming has witnessed many fatal incidents.
On average, the number of fatalities in the country is dropping significantly. For example, the number of deaths was 1.59 per 10,000 residents in 1995. The number dropped to 1.09 per 10,000 in 2015. The biggest dropped occurred between the years 2007 and 2009. This can be attributed to the world’s economic downturn. Things reversed in 2015.
Vehicle death rates varied considerably between 2009 and 2015. The highest risk was seen in Oregon and Vermont. The vehicle death tolls increased from 25 to 30 percent. Georgia and Washington witnessed a sudden increase in death tolls too. Meanwhile, New Mexico became a safe place for drivers. The number of fatal road accidents dropped by 22 percent. Kansas, Rhode Island, and Alaska have fewer vehicle fatalities too.
On the whole, driving is a serious affair. It must not be taken lightly. If you are in the State of North Dakota, driving should be dealt carefully.
